In line with UTHM’s continuous growth and progress, the University administration, on 13 March 2003, established the Pro Tem Alumni Committee under the governance of Student Affairs Office, comprising several members from UTHM’s first generation alumni. The committee was entrusted with conducting studies, formulating and planning action strategies to strengthen alumni-related activities, and establishing a dedicated unit to serve as the bridge between University and alumni.
Following that, the Alumni Relations Unit (UHA) of UTHM was established on 16 June 2006 as a Centre of Responsibility (PTj) under the purview of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs) to strengthen the management and administration of UTHM Alumni. UHA continued to evolve in tandem with the university’s progress, and during the University Executive Committee Meeting No. 1/2008 held on 22 January 2008, the unit was officially renamed as the Centre of Alumni Advancement and Relations (CARE), or in Malay, Pusat Kemajuan dan Hubungan Alumni, more widely known as CARE UTHM. Subsequently, on 1 April 2019, CARE was rebranded as the Centre of Career Advancement and Alumni (PKKA), encompassing three main departments: the Student Industrial Training Department, the Student Career Department, and the Alumni Relations Department. PKKA is further supported by the Administration and Finance Unit as well as the Data and Statistics Unit to ensure the smooth operation of the centre.
